A new Table Tennis Robot has arrived and is ready for use at Laurel Manor. It is a "Newgy Robo Pong" model #2040+, Paddle Palace item #ON204P. For readers unfamiliar, a robot is a practice machine that mounts on the end of a Table Tennis Table. It returns balls to the player allowing training, fitness and fun.
The Robot came with 48 new balls and are marked with an "R" which designates it as a Robot ball. Please try to keep these balls with the robot. The Robot was purchased by the Recreation Department with the assist of Scott Grimes, Laurel Manor Manager. The machine is an updated version of the 11 year old year machine that was barely functional. The improvements are great and it is a very good machine. With proper care, we should get 10 good years out of it. Scott has requested that all persons setting up the Robot should first receive training and that a list of those persons should be made and a copy be kept in his office. Only persons on that list will be allowed to set up the robot. Any one setting up the Robot must accept the responsibility of returning it safely to the closet in the Lincoln Room at Laurel Manor. The Robot cannot be removed from Laurel Manor. Robot set-up training will be available on Sunday, July 1, noon at Laurel Manor. A record will be made of those attending the training. Bud Stout will be available for this purpose and additionally, be available for tips and technique fundamentals. Also, Bud will be available to play with players needing help with their game. Bud Stout is available most Sundays at noon to assist with the robot and give lessons. Exceptions are when there is a tournament or Club social activity scheduled. Keep in mind that Sundays noon to 2:30 pm is a very good time to play table tennis at Laurel Manor. It is not busy, you can walk right in, get a table, play singles or doubles. It is a very good time to bring visitors. Submitted by Bud Stout Another enjoyable get together of Table Tennis ladies. The next luncheon will be at Johnny Rockets, July 23rd at Noon.
