Very sadly I need to report that Jim Weisbecker, a long time member of the Villages Table Tennis Club, passed away yesterday. On Thursday November 15 friends gathered to celebrate his life.
This month our tournament chairman Deb Curtis decided to change things up. Instead of a random draw mixed doubles tournament she ran two separate tournaments, a women’s random draw doubles tournament and a men’s random draw doubles tournament.
Congratulations to our winners.
On the women’s side Kate Aiello and Jackie Dufresne took first place with 11 games, with Donna Beski and Linda Madler in second place with 9 games and Janet Mott and Roni Greenberg in third place with 8 games.
On the men’s side Bill Mogensen and “Wally” Walton took first place with 14 games. There was a tie for second place at 9 games each Larry Smith and John Borjeson, and Peter Rashid and Gordon Weinblatt.
Sadly, the golf tournament was cancelled for last of interest. maybe we will try it again one day.
Another successful luncheon on Monday October 15 at noon, Glenview Champions Country Club. Thank you Carla for hosting.

We are having a 9 hole scramble tournament* on Thursday November 1, 2018 at Cane Garden Country Club. The first tee time is 1:00pm. Plan to stay for an early dinner at the club and to get the final results!! The event is open to all members of the Villages Table Tennis Club and their spouses/significant other.
The entry fee is $2.00 to cover prizes for first and second place plus closest to the pin, one for men and one for women. Standard green fees apply $17.50 or $23.50 depending upon golf priority membership.
The entry deadline is Wednesday October 24.....but don't wait, enter now. Send entries to Jackie Dufresne, email@example.com or use the entry form below. Please include your Villages ID number plus your handicap and let us know if you will need a rental cart and if you will start for dinner. If you don't have a handicap please include the score you would expect on a good day.
* A scramble tournament is a team event. All four players hit off the tee. The team select the best one and every player hits their second shot from there. Repeat until the ball is in the hole. Each team must use each players tee shot at least once. Men will play from the white tees and women may play from the green tees. The team with the lowest score wins.
Congratulations to our members who played in the Gainsville Senior Games, www.gainesvillesportscommission.com. They came back with a fistful of medals.
