Ken was a long-time member of our Villages Table Tennis Club and participated in many local, state, and national table tennis tournaments and not just senior tournaments. A few years ago, was that he was the national senior doubles champion in his age bracket. He was nationally ranked and achieved a rating of 1620. Ken had to retire his paddles a few years ago due to an old shoulder injury acting up. Ken was a great competitor and his good nature, and competitive spirit will be missed. Ken rest in peace.
The 2nd Table Tennis golf outing was held July 6th at Yankee Clipper. It was a great day and thanks for the anti rain dances performed by Judy and Nancy. I really thought from the forecast that no way we were playing. Anyway we got off on time and we only had one no show (He called in and let us know). Competition was tight with the first place team scoring 4 under, 2nd place was 3 under and the next three teams were tied at 1 under.
I'm looking forward to doing it again in the fall. Thanks, Mike PS Special thanks to Judy & Nancy for all their help and they got some great pictures. First Place -- Jim Curran, Diane Gay, Stu Lesser, Suzanne Noe Second Place -- John Borjeson, Roger Mott, Robert Waterstone, Carol Waterstone Long Drive Men -- Jim Curran Long Drive Women -- Suzanne Noe Closest to the Pin Men -- John Borjeson, 5'1" Closest to the Pin Women -- Diane Gay, 38'4" Hey fellow players!
This is Ken from the Ocala TTC just up the road from you. I wanted to let you know that we are now playing on Saturdays from 12 to 3 in addition to our regular Thursday schedule from 5:30 to 9. Our fee is just $3 but waived for first time visitors. We have plenty of tables and plenty of room. We even have a robot to help with the free coaching I provide many of our players. Check out our website at: ttps://www.floridatt.com Look for our club link on the bottom right of your screen. Our play is almost always singles so put on your game face and come up to our club! Hope to see you very soon! Kindest regards, Ken It was strange, a doubles tournament where you changed partners for each match. Mike Rusaw, tournament director, created a format everyone enjoyed while maximizing the amount of effort he needed to put it all together. Thank you Mike.
Congratulations to our winner Stu Lesser with 12 matches won. Gordon Weinblatt and Bill Mogensen tied for second with Gordon getting the edge with fewer points lost, 147 to 151. Cornel West finished fourth. The Villages Table Tennis Club had a GOLF outing last year and it was a lot of FUN. Our next outing will be on July 6 at Yankee Clipper. If you would like to participate this year, here is your chance. Just use the entry form below.
For the people that played last year, we will run it about the same with a few added or changed fun things to do. I will set up the teams to try and balance them. When the schedule comes out please show up 45 mins early. Last year we had people late and or dropped out without notice and we had to readjust the teams at the last minute. We want to have 4 person teams. Mike Rusaw Doubles tournament Sunday June 27, 12:00 noon at Laurel Manor Recreation Center. Each match will be played with a different partner. All matches are one game to 21 points. Switch ends and receivers when one team reaches 11 points. Record wins, losses and scores on individual score sheets. There are a limited number of players so enter early.
Usually activity drops off this time of year as people head out of the Villages for the summer. But this is not the usual summer and many of you may be electing to stay in town. Please tell us if you would be interested in any of the following activities.
