We are having a singles tournament on January 17th and 24th at Laurel Manor open to all members. We plan on a women’s only tournament in the near future.
Because of table limitations, on the 17th we will have two sessions. Out of 16 participants, 8 will start at noon and play till 1:30, and the other 8 will start at 1:30 and play till 3. After signups are completed, I will tell you which group you are in, and when you need to be there. The top 4 from each session will compete in the finals the next week, the 24th, so make sure you are available for both dates. To enter use the form below.

The International Table Tennis Foundation is changing the colors that can be used on a table tennis paddle. Effective October 1, 2021 the paddle must be black on one side and any bright color on the other side. So far they have approved blue, green, pink and purple plus of course the original red. Here are a couple of points from a tournament in Malaysia where they tested out new colors. On Saturday, January 2 Jane Nelson lost her husband Gary. Jane is a longtime member of the club and has worked tirelessly for years to make our social events successful. It is November. In a normal year sometime this month we would begin reminding all of you to pay your dues for upcoming year. But not this year. Anyone who was paid up for 2020 is paid up for 2021. However, we will accept gifts toward future expenses, just contact Mike Schrock at [email protected].

So far there is one change in the schedule. Laurel Manor has discontinued separate men’s and women’s playtime on Mondays instead open play for all will begin at 1:30 pm. Is it safe to play?

This year because so many of the qualifying tournaments had to be canceled they eliminated qualifications and opened the tournament to anyone who wants to enter.
"The Florida Senior Games (FSG) is opening its Games for all participants to compete at its 2020 competition set for December 5-13, eliminating the requirement of competing at and finishing in the Top 5 of an individual’s respective age group at one of its local series qualifiers. "With the cancellation of 13 of its 22 local series qualifiers, the Games look to ensure there is an opportunity for all to participate at its 2020 competition. "What does this mean? Anyone aged 50 and above can register for the 2020 Florida Senior Games presented by Humana without a qualifying performance. In previous years, a Top 5 finish, in the athlete’s respective age division, at a local qualifier punched one’s ticket to the state level of competition. "The 29th Annual Florida Senior Games will be held December 5-13, for athletes age 50 and over. Individual event registration will open in the near future as facilities and competition dates are finalized. Participants are encouraged to check the FloridaSeniorGames.com website regularly for updated event information, locations, and registration." Laurel Manor is closed for maintenance starting Saturday September 19. They expect the repairs to take about a week. Stay tuned for further updates.
